Cape Cod Porch
A rotting deck and steps prompted the owner of this
bungalow to consider dealing with a perennial bug problem on the Cape.
The cathedral ceiling and three open sides of the screened porch have
not impacted the feeling of connection to the outdoors in the adjacent,
and very convenient, kitchen. In fact, due to its southern exposure,
the porch actually helps keep the kitchen cooler in the summer.
The wrap-around steps help to connect the three primary
living areas of the house and create a sort of amphitheater around the
beech tree.
